Venous typhoid, syn.: Sauromatum venosum belongs to the family of Araceae and is an absolute botanical specialty with its extraordinary blossoms, which smell of rotting stuff and therefore attract insects. In spring, the plants sprout from a tuber that grows underground. First the inflorescence forms - from a certain age - and then the leaves appear over the rest of the year. Typhonium venosum is native from Asia to tropical Africa and often grows in rain forests, in damp places along streams or in meadows. Commercial, nutrient-rich potting soil with a neutral to slightly acidic pH value is suitable as a substrate, mixed with some perlite for better drainage. Overwintering should be as frost-free as possible in a cold house. For this purpose, the tubers can either be cultivated cool, dry and dark or continue to be slightly moist in the substrate.
It will be shipped as a tuber, potted in a round pot of 11! The sprouting then takes place in the next season! You will receive a potted tuber with a diameter of about 2-3cm!
