Bromeliads are classified as pre-carnivorous plants because they rely on the help of microorganisms for the utilization of prey. Only a few species, such as Brocchinia reducta and Catopsis spec., are true carnivores! Neoregelia pauciflora is characterized by a variety of dark to reddish spots on the upper side of the leaves. The genus Neoregelia is excellent for keeping in a terrarium. The requirements for the substrate are relatively low. Normal carnivorous plant substrate works just as well as special mixtures for succulents or the mounted (epiphytic) cultivation, such as on bark or in pure peat. You will receive an unpotted plant for mounting or planting.
