Bromeliads are classified as pre-carnivorous plants, as they rely on the assistance of microorganisms for the utilization of their prey. Only a few species, such as Brocchinia reducta and Catopsis spec., are true carnivores! Neoregelia ampullacea "rubra" is characterized by a variety of reddish stripes on its leaves. The genus Neoregelia is particularly well-suited for keeping in a terrarium. The requirements for the substrate are relatively low. Regular carnivorous plant substrate works just as well as special mixtures for succulents or the mounted (epiphytic) cultivation, such as on bark or in pure peat. You will receive an unpotted plant for mounting or planting.
