Bromeliads are classified as pre-carnivorous plants, as they rely on the assistance of microorganisms for the utilization of their prey. Only a few species, such as Brocchinia reducta and Catopsis spec., are true carnivores! This beautiful cultivar of Neoregelia schultesiana exhibits a lovely, intense red coloration when provided with sufficient light and is excellent for keeping in a terrarium. The requirements for the substrate are relatively low. Regular carnivorous plant substrate works just as well as special mixtures for succulents or the mounted (epiphytic) cultivation, such as on bark or in pure peat. You will receive a bare-root plant. Depending on the intensity of light, the plants may show green foliage upon delivery!
