The peat mosses (Sphagnum spec.), With their acidifying effect, are heavily involved in peat build-up in the moors. Sphagnum is particularly suitable for covering peat beds or pots, but also for cultivating highland plants and orchids. You get a mixture of living, predominantly greenish and yellowish peat mosses (can also contain brownish parts). Please note that the coloration of the mosses strongly depends on the temperature and the exposure and the color can therefore vary depending on the season.
